GUITAR LEARNING PROGRAMS
Guitar Lessons are meaningful and fun. Listed below are the essentials of our guitar teaching programs. We customize your sessions to meet your playing goals. We conduct a comprehensive assessment of your playing goals and interest prior to starting guitar lessons.
Young Beginners Guitar Program: Ages 5 - 12 | 25-minute sessions
Our beginning in-home guitar lessons begin for kids as early as age 5. Young students learn the fundamentals of playing their instrument; parts of the guitar, finger/hand placement, proper sitting posture, and tuning. They also learn to recognize the basics of music theory; names & types of notes, guitar chords, sight-reading - including melodies / songs. We also teach them "how-to" practice, to make this a time of fun - not just another component of their daily homework.
Beginners Guitar Program: Ages 13 - Adult | 25 & 50 minute sessions
Intermediate Guitar Program: Ages 13 - Adult | 25 & 50 minute sessions
Designed specifically for guitarists who have some previous musical experience. Students are auditioned to determine their specific playing abilities and musical aptitude. Since these students have already demonstrated interest in learning their guitars, the 50 minute session is highly recommended at this stage. Students add to their knowledge of music theory and improved sight-reading skills. Music styles such as folk, country, blues, rock, jazz, are introduced. They will also learn more advanced chord patterns, playing notes up the neck of the guitar, introduction to scales, and improvisational / lead guitar. Troy helps the student establish playing goals, and to refine their practice times so that they can maximize their effectiveness in overcoming technical challenges each lesson presents. Single or multiple lesson appointment times available weekly.
Advanced Guitar Program: Ages 13 - Adult | 50+ minute sessions
Designed for the performing guitarist or college preparation. These advanced sessions focus on building technique, style, and artistic proficiency. Students are auditioned to determine their specific playing abilities, musical aptitude, and music goals. Students at this level are advanced in their music learning, and are looking to add additional components to their repertoire. Classes are structured to focus on specific technical goals of the guitarist. Advanced music theory, sight-reading, music composition and arrangement, stage performance, are just a few examples of what are offered at this stage of learning. Additional session time and multiple lesson appointments weekly are offered.
Senior Guitar Program: 65+ | 50 - minute session
The beauty of music is that anybody at any age can learn to play an instrument. These sessions are structured around first learning to play basic chords and songs. Students often choose a particular music style such as folk, country, blues, rock, jazz, classical, as a primary focus of study. Additional session time and multiple lesson appointments weekly are offered.
Recording Program: By Arrangement
For a select few, expressing yourself through arranging and recording your own music compositions is your ultimate goal. These sessions, by special arrangement, will teach you how to compose, arrange, and record your songs.
